PhD Electrical Engineering Position in Chemistry (36 months, salary scale E13 / 2) is available at the Institute of Physical Chemistry I (AK-Weber), University of Freiburg, in the DFG project: Investigating the central flaw in the novel zinc oxide (ZnO) nano-particles by electron resonance paramagnetic in-situ (EPR) and optical spectroscopy. ZnO nano-materials have unique properties to the printing technology, performance materials and solar cell applications. Doping ZnO with transition metal elements such as Fe, Co, Mn or Cr causes the material with a completely different behavior of magnetic and optical excitation. This PhD Electrical Engineering new research direction known as diluted magnetic semiconductor (DMS). DMS materials based on ZnO can not only show ferromagnetism at room temperature on doping with transition metal ions such as Fe, Cr, Co, and Mn but also at the same show ferromagnetic and semiconductor properties that are essential for new spintronic devices (LEDs spin, spin transistors valve) and magneto-optical components. http://www.callforpapersinfo.com
http://thescholarshipprogramme.com The PhD Electrical Engineering main objective of this project are to: i) develop new methodologies for the synthesis of undoped and transition metal ions doped ZnO nano-particles, ii) identify the nature or origin of the intrinsic defect centers with spectroscopic methods, mainly by EPR, iii) to understand the mechanisms underlying the effect size for ZnO particles, iv) introducing transition metal ions (Fe3 Mn2 +, Cr3 +, Co2 +, +) and ZnO materials and to investigate the interaction of native and extrinsic defects and properties of ferromagnetic and anti-ferromagnetic.
