Scholarship Description
Water Cycle Impacts of Irrigation System Modernisation at Multiple Scales Modernisation of irrigation infrastructure is often predicated on the basis of improved irrigation efficiency. Multiple definitions of efficiency are described and applied in the literature which makes comparisons between systems difficult and often impossible. There is also lack of clarity on the impacts of infrastructure modernisation at different scales (farm, system, and catchment) and lack of modelling capability to predict these impacts. The successful applicant will form part of a team of researchers working on the application of integrated modelling techniques to evaluate the alternative water management policies in irrigated catchments subject to competition between economic and environmental water demands. The stipend is initially available for 3.5 years with possibility of extension to 4 years. Student fees will be waived by the School. Scholarship is available to overseas students.
